Dr. Brian D. West-Pearson
Dr. West-Pearson has a 15-year career in nursing, urgent care, and addiction treatment with a mental health specialty in addiction medicine. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Resources Management and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, both from Wilmington University. He additionally obtained a Post Certification (PMHNP) and Master in Public Administration from Wilkes University and Wilmington University, followed by a Master in Nursing (Family Nurse Practitioner) and a Doctoral in Nursing Practice from Walden University.
Dr. West-Pearson started his extensive career in 2007 with the Maryland General Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland as a Clinical Supervisor and Emergency Room Registered Nurse. He then moved to the Fayette Health and Rehabilitation Center as Director of QA where he was responsible for the leadership and oversight of LPN and CNA staff assigned to a sub-acute care unit. In 2012, he moved again to Bon Secours Baltimore Hospital as Lead Partner Emergency Room and ICU, where he was responsible for evaluating patient medical conditions and facilitating safe and effective age-specific care for patients. While in this position, he also fulfilled the role of Administrative Coordinator / House Director in the hospital, ensuring that the healthcare environment for patients, staff, and visitors was safe and that patients received high-quality medical care. He also facilitated procedures around the developmental and educational progress of clinical staff and students and helped with performance evaluations of staff as requested by the departmental Nursing Director. Dr. West-Pearson additionally provided oversight and guidance to employees outside the Department of Patient Care Services in the absence of their Department Managers.
In 2017, Dr. West-Pearson started with USA Sleep Diagnostic Mobile Services to work as a Nurse Practitioner. There, he provided comprehensive diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing care for patients with the full spectrum of sleep disorders and developed a team approach with patients to establish “patient-driven” goals with emphasis placed on the highest quality of care and patient satisfaction. In parallel, Dr. West-Pearson also worked with Lifeline Urgent Care and the University of Maryland Faculty Physicians, INC (Emergency Department). In these roles, he treated and managed patients with acute injuries and medical conditions while performing physical examinations and implementing preventive health measures with patients.
Between 2019 and 2022, Dr. West-Pearson worked with three addiction treatment centers, including Redeem Healthcare Medical Services, Genesis Treatment Services, and Tuerk House Stabilization Center. In these roles, he obtained comprehensive patient histories and performed physical examinations and/or psychiatric evaluations, providing direct care to patients with complex medical and mental health problems. Dr. West-Pearson works with Medstar Urgent Care and Riverside Treatment Center as a Nurse Practitioner. At Riverside, he uses advanced clinical and theoretical knowledge to identify acute and/or chronic health problems through comprehensive, age-appropriate assessments of patients with substance use disorders. He also provides evidence-based care and patient education for self-care and substance abuse treatment.
